Global Situation Room Adds Bloomberg Executive Producer Christine Baratta to Expand Podcast Division

Global Situation Room®, Inc. (GSR) announced another major hire this week, as the company continues to build on its success in launching newsworthy podcasts for clients.  Christine Baratta, who led the radio production of Bloomberg’s broadcast political shows from Washington, DC has joined the firm as Director of News and Editorial Content.  In the new role, she will oversee current podcasts and the development of new shows. The move comes as GSR looks to expand podcast content that helps clients shape and drive critical conversations.

“Christine brings the kind of extraordinary experience that can turbocharge our work on high-quality podcasts,” said GSR Founder and President Brett Bruen.  “We are getting inundated with interest from companies looking to elevate their thought leadership and break through the congested, challenging earned media space.  She brings the skills and knowledge to help grow a world-class team of journalists and communications professionals.”

The hire comes just weeks after GSR added podcast industry executive RJ Bee to their leadership.  RJ joined the company last month as Director of Operations after having run Osiris Media for the last five years.  They join an award-winning team that has produced the top foreign affairs podcast in the world, “One Decision” with Julia Macfarlane and former MI6 Chief Sir Richard Dearlove, along with Pod is a Woman.  The show featured an all-female cast of officials from the Obama Administration and was hailed by TIME as one of the best political podcasts.

GSR describes their work as responding to a major unmet need in the market.  While many companies produce podcasts, few reach the top of charts and make headlines in major news outlets.  This has been a distinctive feature of the podcasts that GSR has produced for clients.  The shows allow executives to convene leading national and global figures for discussions focused on the issues impacting their industry.  According to their clients, the result is much more powerful than a press release or a blog.

“Through the podcasts, GSR has pioneered, businesses are finally able to achieve a level of influence and impact that far surpasses the superficial thought leadership offerings of other public relations agencies,” Bruen added.
