Global Situation Room Announces New Director of Operations

The Global Situation Room®, Inc. (GSR), an elite public affairs firm, announced the hire of veteran communications executive RJ Bee as the company’s new Director of Operations.  He was previously Senior Vice President of Operations at Hattaway Communications and has been CEO of Osiris Media for the past five years.  The addition of Bee comes at a time of rapid expansion for GSR, which has handled some of the most high-profile crisis and reputation work for companies, celebrities, and foundations in recent years.

“RJ brings a wealth of experience in scaling agencies and delivering world-class content,” said GSR’s President Brett Bruen.  “This background was a perfect match for us at this moment.  We are very focused on growing to meet the increasing demand for firms that can effectively engage on the most challenging communications issues and still sustain the sophisticated level of support being provided to clients.”

Bee joins the firm with more than 15 years of experience in operations, business development, and content development, most recently creating and growing a podcast company, Osiris Media, which has created content with companies like Audacy, Ben & Jerry’s, and many high-profile musicians and record labels. At Hattaway Communications he led day-to-day business operations for the firm, including client service, staff management and culture, HR, finance, and marketing. Bee worked with Ford Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, USAID, CARE, and many other global organizations.  His work helped the firm grow fivefold in ten years. Before Hattaway, Bee worked in public relations for Blanc & Otus and Schwartz Communications.

“GSR is doing cutting-edge work in communications, which offers me a unique opportunity to help scale the firm,” said Bee, who will be based in the company’s headquarters in Alexandria, VA. “Particularly exciting for me is their work creating newsworthy podcasts for corporate clients. Podcasts offer a level of authenticity and engagement that creates a real opportunity for organizations to create compelling content to inspire and influence listeners.”
