Global Situation Room Announces Scholarships for American Journalism Students in Ireland

Alexandria, Va., December 11, 2024 – The leading public affairs agency Global Situation Room, Inc. (GSR) and the Clinton Institute at University College Dublin in Ireland launched new scholarships for students to spend a summer at the CNN Academy in Ireland. The program is open to undergraduates majoring in journalism. The aim is to bolster the next generation of international correspondents, at a time when geopolitical crises are becoming even more challenging.

“We are proud to provide support for emerging journalists to get critical global experience. The CNN Academy in Dublin has built a reputation as the top institution for studying media and international affairs, especially through their popular graduate programs,” said GSR President and CEO Brett Bruen.

GSR has expanded its presence in news in recent years. Its podcast studio Situation Room Studios produces the popular world affairs show One Decision with former American and British intelligence chiefs Leon Panetta and Sir Richard Dearlove. The firm has also built iconic international brands and campaigns, including Business Ready for the World Bank and led Mastercard’s thought leadership work around the world. It also works with the Irish economic development agency Enterprise Ireland on its communications in the United States.

“We appreciate GSR’s support for our program and look forward to being able to bring a diverse, dynamic group to Dublin next summer,” said Liam Kennedy, the Clinton Institute Director.

Interested students can apply through the University’s applications process. The scholarship will be awarded to those who have shown the greatest interest in international affairs, but have yet to travel abroad. Travel expenses to Ireland will also be covered.
